The Reading Rush 2020 // participation announcement & tbr

So I lied. I said I wouldn’t be doing any readathons this year (except the OWLs & NEWTs) , that I wouldn’t put that extra pressure on myself but I’ve been doing so good at mood reading and just going with the flow — I craved a little challenge this month. Luckily it just so happens that The Reading Rush is running from July 20 to 26th!

To find out more about The Reading Rush, the challenges and how to join —go check out the official website here.

My plan

Basically I failed The Reading Rush 2019. I planned to read a book for every prompt, I wanted to read them in order, I thought I was invincible…and then I fell into a reading slump on the second day and my plans went up in flames.

Seven books in a week is not impossible. I’ve done it before, though it was unintentional. I know I will not be able to do it if I force myself so I will be reading 2 to 3 books for that week.

For some of the prompts I picked multiple books, and then when the actual challenge begins I’ll see which one I’m in the mood for at the time.

This is a tentative tbr. My plans might completely change, I might receive book mail that I desperately need to read that week. Who knows?! My wrap up post will most likely end up different to the books I’ve got planned below.

The prompts & my tbr

1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone. (amethyst)
– The Truth About Magic by Atticus

2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The
– The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
– The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
– the Jane Austen bookclub by Karen Joy Fowler

3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
– Jane Austen bookclub by Karen Joy Fowler

4/ Read the first book you touch.
– Jane Austen bookclub by Karen Joy Fowler

5/ Read a book completely outside of your house.
– All Along You Were Blooming by Morgan Harper Nichols

6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
– All along you were Blooming by Morgan Harper Nichols

7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
– The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
– The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden

I refuse to put pressure on myself and honestly am looking forward to reading these amazing books and just having fun! I wont be able to get to all of them but I’ll still be knocking a few off the tbr! Keep an eye out for my wrap up post some time next week ❤

Are you doing the reading rush? Is it your first time? What book are you most excited to read?

  1. I’ll also be participating in The Reading Rush! I’m so excited as it’s my first time doing so. I’m a bit stressed but I’m just aiming to read as much as possible for myself, you know? Good luck with all your books, lovely! ✨
